RISE-OP Research Projects

Through our collaborative efforts, we aim to uncover novel strategies for early detection, prevention, and personalized treatment of oral cancer. This alliance will foster collaboration for clinical trials to meet this goal.

Advanced Profiling of Oral Cancer Initiation

Currently, we are using immunohistochemistry to perform advanced diagnostic testing on oral pre-cancerous lesions to determine if a combination of biomarkers is predictive of developing cancer. This research is ongoing.

Our long-term goal is to raise funding to :

1. Perform RNA sequencing on oral precancerous specimens to determine risk of malignant transformation, as well as identify potential therapeutic targets.

2. Develop an oral precancer atlas to identify the critical molecular changes that occur in oral cancer initiation, to better inform management of patients with these lesions
